Kathleen I. MEMMEL

Kathleen Irene Memmel (nee Feranec) passed away at home surrounded by her family on November 4, 2017.  Kathy was on home hospice for a short time prior to her passing at her home. She was blessed to have family visit and care for her during the last weeks of her life.

She was born July 9, 1950 to Andrew and Irene Feranec in Phillips, WI. She enjoyed sharing her childhood stories with her grandchildren.  She married the love of her life, James Memmel and they blended their families together. They were not only committed to each other, they unified their children as well into one family. Kathy’s children were Jennifer and Daniel, bonus children Sandy and Luke.

Kathy and Jim traveled to many different parts of the world together. They had great adventures on trips to many beautiful places in the world.  They also took  pride in working on their home together, making it the heart of countless holidays and family events.

Kathy enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, traveling and going to her cabin in the woods.  Her love of friends and family was evident to all who knew her.  She quilted beautiful quilts for her grandchildren as well as many other family members, often working late into the night to complete the blankets.  She was a very loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Kathy was proudly and happily employed by the Village of Pewaukee for many years. She was dedicated to the work she provided. She met many life-long friends through her work.

She is survived by her dedicated husband, retired police officer James Memmel, daughter Jennifer Micheau, son Daniel (Shannon) Schulze, bonus daughter Sandy (John) Bachik, bonus son Luke (Joan) Memmel, grandchildren Avery, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Logan, Gavin and Jaeda. She is further survived by siblings Gloria (George) Kiefer, Patricia (Roger) Watral, John Feranec, Jeff Feranec, many loving nieces and nephews as well as other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Irene Feranec, brother Mickey, sisters Judy and Sandee.

Please join us to celebrate Kathy’s life on November 8, 2017 at Thelen Funeral Home located in Genesee,WI from 1:30-5:30. A gathering will be held after the service at their family home. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips, WI on 11/10/17 at 10 am.

  I can’t be there to still hold your hand, I can’t be there to hug you. I can’t be there to dry your tears but there is something my love can still do. My quilts can wrap you in my love and comfort you at night. Each stitch was done with love and care, made by my hands late at night. I completed each square with precise detail so you would know how much I thought of you. Now I am gone but my quilts can still warm and comfort you when you miss me most. I am in heaven and now set free, please know I will be watching over you. My quilts can be used to dry your eyes and still surround you with my love.
