Rita Marie (Schiller) WENDT

Rita Marie Christine Mary Schiller Wendt, passed away on Sunday, June 4th.  She was born 24 March 1941, was the second child of Marian and Rudy Schiller.  She was a graduate of Waukesha High School where she met her husband Gus, whom she married in 1958.  Together for almost 59 years, they raised four children and have 10 grandchildren.  

Rita was a lover of flowers and plants, all types of card and board games and travel.  She and Gus traveled extensively with their friends the Labinskis, Meskes and Bauses and enjoyed several winters in Florida.  They also enjoyed gourmet cooking and for years shared that passion with a group who met monthly for dinners.

Rita enjoyed being a grandma and loved the time she spent with Chenzo and Maddie.  She was also an  enthusiastic  step-grandma to Mia, Renee, Becca, Danielle, Kevin, Amy, Brian and Steven, who came into her life when Mary, Marjorie and Gene married.

She is survived by her husband Gus, who steadfastly took care of her as her illness progressed; her four children: Mary (Chris Moase), Marjorie (Jake Schwei), Marsha (Jim Hoeppner) and Gene (Laura), her grandchildren and her best friend and cousin, Linda Vincent,  as well as many friends.

In keeping with her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 12th from 4-7 pm at Red Circle Inn, N44 W33013 Watertown Plank Road, Nashotah, WI , with an eco-friendly, green burial in Prairie Home Cemetery.
