George NOWAK Obituary

George L. Nowak, age 88, of North Prairie passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.  George was born on February 22, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI to Leon and Bernice (Zibell) Nowak.  He married the love of his life, Marilynn M. Hokenson on November 20, 1954 in Milwaukee.

 

George served in the US Marine Corps. in the Korean War, he was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps. League and was a former State Department Commandant.  He was a lifetime VFW member and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. George was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Eagle and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed and was a member of a church dartball league in Waukesha for many years.  

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Marilynn of North Prairie, WI; his children, Susan (Gary) Mrotek of Mukwonago, WI, Robert Nowak of North Prairie, WI, Steven Nowak of North Port, FL, Sharon (Robert) Anderson of North Port, FL and Donna (John) Ross of Pewaukee, WI; his 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Walter) Scott of Hiawassee, GA and Kathleen (Donald) Vincent of Nashua, NH; brother-in-law, Michael (Doreen) Shoemaker of Eugene, OR.; other relatives and many, many friends.

 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Leon and Bernice Nowak; his son, Kenneth (Sharon) Nowak; siblings, Donald Nowak, David (Joan) Nowak and Audrey (Raymond) Ford.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial for George will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 12:00 (noon) at St. Theresa Catholic Church (136 Waukesha Road, Eagle, WI) with Fr. Peter Drenzek officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of the mass at the church.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waukesha with full military honors.

 

Memorial contributions in George’s name can be directed to the Marine Corps. League Scholarship Fund (3619 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Suite 115, Stafford, VA  22554) and are greatly appreciated.
