Gerald J. "Jerry" LUTHER

Gerald J. “Jerry” Luther, age 89, of Mukwonago passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Tender Reflections in Elkhorn.  Gerald was born on October 5, 1928 to Joseph and Gertrude (Foote) Luther in Milwaukee, WI.  He married the love of his life Sylvia G. Schroeder in 1955 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Milwaukee. 

Jerry served in the Air Force and then was a member of VFW Post 7221 in Mukwonago.  He was a union painter for 30+ years.  Jerry loved building bird feeders, windmills and a special dollhouse for his granddaughter.  Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and swimming in the summertime, he was a fan referee at all of his children’s sporting events.  He loved to travel to Arkansas with the family.  He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Big Bend where he was an usher, a lector and worked the church picnics and bingo. 

Surviving Gerald are his wife of 62+ years, Sylvia; his children, Jeff (Patty) Luther, Colleen (Bob) Wagner and Annette (Bill) Johns; 9 grandchildren, Michael Luther, Amanda (Sean) Rosen, Aaron (Eileen) Luther, Alyssa Luther, Joshua Johns, Brandon Wagner, Kaitlyn Johns, Ryan Wagner and Sara Sommer; 2 great-grandchild, Landon and Brayden Rosen;  son-in-law, Jeff Sommer, other relatives and friends. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a daughter, Maureen Sommer. 

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Tender Reflections, Elkhorn for their loving care of Jerry.

Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald will be Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:30AM at St. Joseph Parish (S89 W22650 Milwaukee Avenue, Big Bend, WI).  Burial with military honors to follow at Rural Home Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00AM until 11:15AM at the CHURCH.  Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name can be directed to: Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org).
