James Alvin Lurvey, age 75, of Dousman passed away with family at his side on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Jim was born to William and Blanche (Brom) Lurvey in Dousman, WI on April 4, 1943. Jim married Joanne on May 25, 1979.
Jim was a lifelong resident of the Town of Ottawa. He grew up and worked on his father’s dairy farm, attended Waukesha South High School and after serving in the National Guard, spent most of his career at the Carnation Company in Oconomowoc. He retired from Allis Tool in West Allis and enjoyed his favorite pastimes which were taking his family on road trips, watching birds, enjoying nature, fishing and listening to great fish tales from his dear friend, Tom Schwefel, playing cards with his siblings, going for walks with his brothers and watching his dogs run at his feet. Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, musical programs, graduations or ordinary days that became extraordinary days when they were together. After Joanne retired, he loved to just sit alongside her on the front porch, drinking coffee. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful smile that reflected his gentle soul. He was quick to accept and slow to judge.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 39 years, Joanne; his cherished daughters, Dana Denton of Helenville and Lisa (Tom) Spitz of Sun Prairie; his treasured grandchildren, Drake and Deidre Denton; Jim, Jack and Claire Spitz; his best friends and brothers William (Rita) Lurvey and Donald Lurvey and dear sister, Ilene (Paul) Kronschnabel all of Dousman; nieces, nephews , other relatives and close family friend, Sandra Heiden.
Per Jim’s request a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
