Karen J. (Brawders) HEINE

Karen J. (Brawders) Heine, age 65, of Mukwonago passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.  Karen was born on July 26, 1956 in Jefferson, WI to Arnold and Jean (Metzker) Brawders. She was the eldest of their five children.  She married the love of her life Michael D. Heine on August 14, 1976 in Jefferson, WI.

Karen became a mother September 15, 1978 when her son Jeremiah was born. Almost two years later on July 23rd, 1980 her daughter, Jamee, was born.

Karen went to nursing school at MATC and became a registered nurse. She worked in nursing for 42 years, 37 of those at St. Joseph’s hospital in Milwaukee,WI. She worked in the NICU for her whole career, caring for the smallest, most vulnerable of patients. 

Karen was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran church in Mukwonago, WI , leading the church’s youth group for many years. Later in life, she attended and was an active member of All Saints Lutheran church in Wales,WI.

Karen loved to spend time with her family, gardening, quilting and traveling. She enjoyed being outdoors, including going to the local dog park and camping.

Karen will forever be remembered for her bright smile, big heart and her cheerful personality.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Michael; her children, Jeremiah (Laura) Heine and Jamee (Joseph) Newville; her grandchildren, Amber Newville, Brooklyn and Peyton Pederson; her mother, Jean Brawders; her siblings, Alan (Theresa) Brawders, Lisa (Randy) Brandt and Jason (Jenny) Brawders; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her father, Arnold and her sister Wendy.

A memorial service for Karen will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00AM at All Saints Lutheran Church (705 Tomlin Road, Wales, WI) with Rev. Roy Nelson officiating.  There will be a time to gather and share memories and stories from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in Karen’s name can be sent to HAWS or Hoovers Hause All Dog Rescue, and are greatly appreciated.
