Richard Anthony Meindel, 90, resident of Palmyra, entered into eternal life on February 9, 2023. Born to Wenzel and Madeline (Spohn) Meindel on June 15, 1932 in Chicago,IL. Richard married the love of his life, Jean Ann Reynolds on August 25, 1956 in Milwaukee.
Richard loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing and telling stories around the campfire to all his friends and family. Richard was a Son of the American Legion and a member of the Catholic Foresters. He built a home on Clam Lake, where they lived in the summer months and they had a home in Okeechobee, FL where they lived in the winter months for over 30 years.
Richard is survived by loving wife of 66 years, Jean Meindel; children Kathleen (Patrick) Palmer, Michael (Jennifer) Meindel, Patricia (Randal) Cartwright, Vince (Linda) Meindel; grandchildren Timothy (Jessica) Palmer, Brian (Vanessa) Palmer, Kevin (Rebecca) Palmer, Lee (Michaela) Palmer, Joseph (Brooke) Palmer, Matthew (Lauren) Meindel, Manning Meindel, Sara (Louie) Nowak, Adam (Mayra) Cartwright, Allen Cartwright, Kyle (Laura) Meindel, Katie (John) Kihneman, Maddy (Dan) Plese, Karl (Hannah) Meindel, Christopher (Allie) Meindel, Mitchell (Courtney) Meindel, Claire Meindel; 20 great-granchildren with four on the way; siblings Bettyann Konrath, Kay Touchette, Gail (Donald) Reinke, and Harry (Marilyn) Pertle; and other cherished friends and family.Richard is preceded in death by his parents Wenzel A. Meindel and Madeline Spohn; sister Lois (Edward) Stiglich; grandchildren Ryan Meindel, Richard Cartwright, Cara Meindel; brothers-in-law Gerald Konrath, Edward Stiglich, Duane Touchette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Bruno’s Catholic Church, 226 W Ottawa Ave, Dousman, WI 53118, on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00AM with visitation from 10-11AM. Burial at St. Bruno’s Parish Cemetery will follow the mass.
