Waukesha, WI – Susannah Jayne Zahn, 19, of Waukesha, WI entered her heavenly rest on Saturday, October 14, 2023 with her mom, dad, and brother by her side. Susannah had battled ROHHAD Syndrome since age 2 ½. ROHHAD Syndrome is a rare and complex syndrome which brought many challenges to Susannah’s life. Though she battled her health challenges with a fighting spirit, she was best known for her sweet personality and her warm smile. To know Susannah was to love her. Though she didn’t quite reach her 20th birthday she has left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She loved music and she especially loved singing hymns and spiritual songs that praised Jesus and expressed her faith in him and his saving promises to her. When she wasn’t singing, she would be busy with a craft or playing a game with family. She had a heart for people, especially wonderful friends she made through the Kettle Moraine High School special education program and Jesus Cares Ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her grandfathers Michael Hein and Allen Zahn. She is survived by her parents, Jason & Jessica Zahn, and her brother, Micah, whom she adored; her great grandmother, Jeanette Kutz, grandmothers: Cynthia Hein and Linda Zahn; uncles and aunts: Jonathan & Rebecca Hein; Jonathan & Jennifer Agenten; James & Adrian Hein; George & Jennifer Kellerman; Jeff & Jodi Plath; Jeremy & Cathy Zahn; Steve & Jamie Fettchenhauer; Pat & Janelle Strubbe, and her cousins whom she dearly loved: Caleb & Joshua Hein; Jack, Charlie, Ellie, & Lily Agenten; David & Cary Kellerman; Olivia, Brooklyn, Sam & Nolan Plath; Carter, Hudson, & Conrad Zahn; Wes Fettchenhauer; Carter, Ava, Gabby, & Isla Strubbe.
Her Christian funeral is planned for 3pm on Sunday, October 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with her uncle, Pastor Jon Hein officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 12-3pm.
Though Susannah never was able to run, jump, and play as a child because of the complications of ROHHAD Syndrome, she found great joy in watching other children playing and having fun. Susannah would be overjoyed if instead of flowers, memorials are given to Trinity Lutheran Church to help purchase new playground equipment for elementary school-aged children to enjoy.
